In this post we will be going over NuWave’s 33201 Air Fryer. There has been a lot of hype and we’ll go deeper for us to understand if its worth it or not.
Aside from air frying crispy foods, the air fryer can also bake, broil, toast, roast & grill. Grilled cheese sandwiches and baked potatoes come out great and yummy.
It also has a preheat function to ensure you reach the desired cooking temperature or thaw frozen meat. The thawing benefit will come in handy if you forgot to bring out your meat and find yourself short of time to prepare your dish.
With today’s busy lifestyle, time is always a premium for everybody. If you have the NuWave air fryer in your kitchen, you’ll be able to prepare food on time even if it’s right out of the freezer.
The NuWave air fryer has a 3.5 qt capacity basket with non stick coating. You’ll be able to cook a whole chicken. This capacity is enough for 3 to 4 persons.
It also cooks fast and evenly because of its precise temperature control and even heat distribution function.
If you regularly find yourself short of time and need to prepare food for your family you’ll appreciate having an air fryer you can rely on. Even if you need to prepare food more than 4 persons, the speed that the Nuwave cooks food will allow you to prepare 2 batches in no time.
One distinguishing feature of the NuWave air Fryer is its Digital Led Controls. It located right in front of the unit and clearly visible.
From the controls you can set the cooking temperature, cooking time and preheat time. Because it is digital, you have full and exact control when setting. Most other air fryers have knobs or dials and getting the exact setting may cause some problems. If you’re like me who needs eye glasses for reading, the digital control is a welcome convenience.
The control is sized just right and with the led lighting, you can use it even in low light conditions.
One other thing, in case you’re wondering what the 6 icons on top of the control panel do they are not presets. I reached out to NuWave and they replied back that these icons represent the type of food being cooked. They are further explained in the manual that comes with the fryer.
The temperature range for this fryer is from 100 to 390 degrees Fahrenheit. It could be set via the control in 5 degree increments but you can increase the increments by holding the button longer.
Many other air fryers reach up to 400 degrees but many users does not find the slightly lower maximum temperature any problem.
Hard plastic with non-stick coated frying basket. They label the unit as multi-color but I’m not sure black and gray fits the bill. This is no biggie and the fryer looks good.
It also has one of the longest power cord available and you’ll not have to worry if you’re space is near or far from a poer outlet.
DIMENSIONS AND SPECS
Motor: 1300 watts
Dimensions: 8x11x13 in
Weight; 8.01 lbs
Voltage: 110 volts
Retractable 4 feet power cord
The fryer comes with a removable fry basket w/ non-stick coating. Out of the box you can start using your air fryer without any need for additional accessories.
There is an option to purchase the unit plus accessories. The accessories pack will help you cook more different dishes but a few consumers find the extra price a bit too high. You can also purchase the unit without the accessories first and then get the accessories when you find the need for them.
You don’t really need the accessories so it would be up to you if you get them or not.
Right off, I like the digital led controls. Setting is quite easy with the added accuracy without straining my eyes.
Cooking time and taste is spot on and if you get the extra accessories, the options for cooking different dishes multiply.
Cleaning is also not an issue with the fry basket being dishwasher safe.
Not much not to like with this air fryer. Most low ratings were about the price but compared to other air fryers it is actually lower (as of this writing).
Fully 6 out of 10 gave it the highest rating while 1.5 out of 10 gave it just under perfect. I believe the rating reflects how well this fryer performs notwithstanding the issue about cost.
The price (as of this writing) without the accessories is reasonable in my opinion and even lower than most air fryers around.
With the way it performs and the number of happy users the price is just right.
After all the research and time spent, the NuWave air fryer I believe is a good first air fryer for anyone wanting to stay away from oily foods and start eating healthy.
One thing I need to mention is that a few users chose this model as an alternative cooker for someone with diabetes. They wanted to still enjoy the fried food taste but at the same time eat healthier.
